Christmas gift guide: Stocking Fillers online shop

I am a big fan of bargains and I'm always on the lookout for great shops with not so big prices especially when it comes to buying presents/stocking fillers for Christmas.

I have massive stockings for myself and L which we kept empty last year as I thought that L is too small to care and it just slipped my mind that I need to fill them. My husband didn't have a stocking which he pointed out was a little bit unfair on him.
This year thanks to Stocking Fillers I have a stocking and a stocking filler for my darling husband and a little gift for L which hopefully will take up most of the space in the stocking.

"The Stocking Fillers website first went live in 2007, set up to make shopping for Christmas stockings and presents that little bit easier. We’ve been growing ever since, with a huge range of toys, games, gadgets and more that make ideal stocking fillers for Christmas morning. And we’re not just talking about children’s Christmas stockings either, as we have a wide selection of grown-up gifts too!
If you’re looking for an even easier way to get gift stuffed stockings at the end of the bed on Christmas day, then we’ve also got a collection of pre-filled Christmas stockings. There are several to choose from, each tailored to a different age range and gender to ensure it’s filled with things they’ll love. Each one is only £20 and is packed with contents that are valued at £30 or more, saving you £10 on the cost of the great gifts inside.

Of course, if you’ve already sorted the stockings and want something a little bit bigger, we’ve also got a large selection of big Christmas gifts and presents for you to look through. Check out our wide selection of toys that are sure to keep the kids happy, or why not browse through ourgifts for him or for her? We’ve also got lots of lovely little top-up gifts that are perfect for when you want to give that little bit more".

Speaking of presents, L is a big fan of cats and dogs and when I saw this cute fluffy kitten I could resist but to order it for L.

This adorable kitten costs £22 and I think worth every penny as I know that L would be extremely happy to have a little toy pet which can move forward, meow, curl the tail and look up!
For my husband I have got an empty stocking (£3.99), it is 56cm long and is the same size to the ones I have for L and myself so we are truly equal this year. This traditional red stocking with white trim is made of plush fabric and ready to be filled with presents for your loved ones.
Why not to buy something silly for your friend or loved one?! I have opted for Silly Socks (£3.99) for my husband. We have all seen a man wearing socks with sandals, looks ridiculous!? And yet there are men out there who made it a trend.
My husband will never wear anything like that but I thought it would be interesting to see his reaction when he sees these socks. White silly socks have a sandals print on them which gives you that embarrassing/Roman look, they are quite practical as well as will fit almost all sizes and are 37cm long to top up this ridiculous look.

What would you pick from the website?

Christmas gift guide: Picture Proud unique personalised gifts + discount code

I have came across Picture Proud couple of years ago and since then was following their progress.

"Picture Proud all started because my closest friend was due to have her first baby (so a big thank you to you Lorraine) and I wanted to send a little something that was different rather than flowers or clothes. I wanted a unique gift, a gift that had a wow factor, but most of all a gift that would be a lasting memento.
...Since then, you can see I have compiled a collection of my own unique designs, together with some exciting new designs for the future. Since starting Picture Proud I’ve had my own child, Charlotte, she’s just so adorable, and as a mum you so want them to have the best. So I’ve grown Picture Proud as a company alongside my pregnancy with Charlotte, thinking about what sort of gifts everyone would like.

Our products are fantastic gifts for all occasions, maybe a new arrival, a christening, a special birthday, Christmas, get well, Easter or simply because people want to buy something a little different.

We now supply gifts for all ages and all occasions. If there is anything specific you are looking for, then please do get in touch and we will be glad to see if we can help!

One thing I am proud of though is that throughout the years we continued to offer quality hand-made products crafted here in the UK. We know our customers appreciate the craftsmanship that goes in to all our personalised items, they know they are purchasing a product that will last a lifetime and will be treasured for many years to come".

Here are just few of their gorgeous items you can purchase in time for Christmas:

If you wish to place an order for Christmas, Picture Proud have kindly provided a 10% discount code MYLITTLEBLOG or contact Picture Proud on tel.: 01245 360317 (please note I don't receive any percent from the sale).

SlimFast 7 day starter kit challenge results

A week or so ago I started my new weight loss challenge thanks to SlimFast. I have received a 7 day starter kit, which included everything I need to keep me going for the next 7 days:
-  6 milkshakes: summer strawberry, chunky chocolate, cafe latte
- 7 snack bags: cheddar bites, sour cream and chive pretzels
- 7 snack bars: chocolate caramel, heavenly chocolate
- 8 meal replacement bars: chocolate crunch, summer berry
- meal plan ideas booklet

SlimFast starter pack is a meal replacement diet plan which is very easy to follow. It is recommended that you choose 3 SlimFast snacks or fruits/vegetables, choose 2 SlimFast meal replacement bars, shakes and eat a healthy 600 cal meal (women)/800cal for men in the evening, overall of 1200cal (women) or 1400cal (men) a day.

I have followed the example meal plan from the booklet included as I prefer to have a strict plan of what I need to eat otherwise I can pick up something I'm not allowed to eat.

For the first 2 days it was a bit of a struggle, I'm used to snacking during the day but it seemed that milkshake or replacement bar was not enough for me. I used my treadmill every evening for 20-25 minutes as a part of the diet plan recommendations and tried to drink 2 liters of water, but felt tired, hungry and every single day was looking forward my evening meal. I forgot how easy it is to put weight on and how hard it is to lose it!

I did notice the change in my weight though, I had -2kg. As I have enjoyed eating/drinking SlimFast products eventually I got used having sweet "snacks" during the day and tried to control my portions in the evening, until day 6. On day 6 it was our 3rd wedding anniversary and I decided to carry on dieting the next day, which I shouldn't have done as I felt even more hungrier than ever.

Overall, it's a great experience which made me think about methods of improving my daily food intake. I enjoyed different flavours and textures. Milkshakes were tasty, not too sweet/bland or thick; mini cheddars seemed a bit too salty but I don't normally put salt in my food so that could be the reason why they seems salty to me; pretzels tasted just about right shame packs were small; meal replacement bars seemed to be a little bit too sweet and required a drink with them, but I didn't mind them at all, in fact I really liked chocolate crunch; snack bars were the best part of the SlimFast starter kit- delicious!

As you can see I didn't manage to lose much weight, but I'm sure if I had Slimfast to last me longer I would have better results.
SlimFast starter kit could suit those who are always on the go and just like me need that kick to start healthy eating and exercising.

Christmas gift guide: Lush T Shirts

My husband is a big fan of t-shirts, in fact he has more t-shirts than I have clothes. When Lush T shirts have offered to review one of their cool and funky t-shirts I knew straight away it would be ideal for my t-shirt lover husband.

"Our goal has been the same since day one; To put a smile on people's faces in the form of a tee. We'd like to think we do that, whether it be a hilarious phrase or graphic, a bold statement or a design inspired by something we love".

It did take me a while to choose, I have asked my husband for his opinion on which t-shirt would look good on him. We have opted for the standard Snowman t-shirt in medium (£14.99) as it's a Christmassy, funny gimmick t-shirt.
The t-shirt is of excellent quality and very well made from supper soft 100% cotton and hand printed in the UK. The snowman print may look simple but it does cause a head turn/conversation starter. My husband is not one for Christmas t-shirts/jumpers, but is adamant he will wear this one with print, as it is “sleek” and “cool”.

Lush T Shirts offer 2 types of fit- a regular unisex style of fit, "perfect for guys or girls who prefer a loose or baggy fit", and ladies fitted silhouette.
Unfortunately the medium size is quite tight on him,  I would recommend to order the next size up to avoid disappointment (t-shirt available in sizes from Small to XXL).

Lush offer festive t-shirts with some funny and witty slogans on, which will appeal to all family members, so definitely worth a look.

There is one sticking point,  if you plan on purchasing an 'offensive' style t-shirt, be prepared that certain pubs & restaurants will ask you to cover up the t-shirt to avoid offending customers (and this comes directly from the husband – who has experience, fair or unfair).

Christmas gift guide: Lillypips personalised gingerbread girl

I used to be very excited about putting up Christmas tree and decorating it, but once we start putting all the toys up it seems like an awfully boring thing to do. Having said that I like looking through all decorations and putting them up around the house. Today I'm reviewing a cute gingerbread girl (£5.50) from Lillypips which I think could be a great feature for your Christmas tree or a great decoration for the handle or can be a great decoration for that screw you have in the wall.

"Lillypips creates and makes beautiful personalised gifts for all occasions.
Lillypips was created 4 years ago after the birth of my 1st child Joshua. I made a cushion and wooden name blocks for his nursery and discovered a passion for creating and making beautiful things.
Year after year we have grown and we have the most lovely following of customers.
We are currently very busy making all of our beautiful Christmas decorations and will be taking orders up until the 14th December".

This cute gingerbread girl is made of birch wood and finished hair bow, organza red tutu skirt (can be made in pink) and hand stamped with the name of your choice.

Lillypips's unique and personalised gifts could make a great present for someone special this Christmas!

Carbon Monoxide Awareness week with a giveaway from CORGI HomePlan

Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week is an annual safety week which aims to raise awareness of gas safety across the UK and is run by the registered charity 'Carbon Monoxide Awareness'.

In April I have shared how I found out that we were close to carbon monoxide poisoning. Since then I'm keen to spread the word to prevent similar situations with you, my lovely readers!

"Research carried out this year by CORGI HomePlan revealed worrying statistics about the safety of gas appliances in British homes.

As we enter Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week (November 16-22), it places a focus on the unnecessary risks that some householders are taking with the safety of their families.

CORGI HomePlan surveyed 2,000 people about gas safety and their awareness of carbon monoxide. The results were alarming.

Less than half of boilers in the UK (41 per cent) are serviced annually. A shocking seven per cent of UK boilers have never been serviced.

Regular, annual, servicing of all gas appliances – boilers, cookers, fires and heaters – is the best defence against carbon monoxide leaks.

Carbon monoxide (CO) doesn’t announce its arrival. You cannot see it, smell it, touch it or taste it. It’s indiscriminate and is rightly known as the ‘silent killer’.

CO is produced by the incomplete burning of gas. This happens when a gas appliance has been incorrectly fitted, badly repaired or poorly maintained. It can also occur if flues, chimneys or vents are blocked.

Breathing in even small amounts of the gas results in carbon monoxide poisoning. CORGI HomePlan’s 2015 research revealed that one in 10 adults in the UK believes they have suffered CO poisoning to some extent.

When you breathe in carbon monoxide, it gets into your bloodstream and prevents your red blood cells from carrying oxygen. Without oxygen, your body tissue and cells die.

Levels that do not kill can cause serious harm to health when breathed in over a long period of time. Long term effects of carbon monoxide poisoning include paralysis and brain damage.

Education through awareness weeks such as this are also vitally important to improving the nation’s CO safety and reinforcing the message that all gas appliances must be regularly serviced to work safely. CORGI HomePlan is committed to making this happen.

To download a white paper of carbon monoxide safety tips, visit www.corgihomeplan.co.uk

I am very delighted to offer one of my readers the opportunity to win the carbon monoxide detector worth £40, all you have to do is fill out the Rafflecopter form below (the competition starts on 20 November 12am and ends on 4 December 12am):

It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the 2015 with Webbs of Wychbold

Yesterday we were celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary at Webbs of Wychbold- one of the best garden centres in the UK.

"Wonderfully situated in the centre of England, Webbs is a family business committed to providing the very best for your garden and home. We have everything for the dedicated and occasional gardener alike, as well as providing great places to visit for non gardeners".

We have been invited to Webbs last year as well but it was completely different experience. This year L is more independent and interested in discovering new things and I was hoping that we all can enjoy ice skating and visiting Santa is his Grotto.

"The Real Ice Rink at Webbs Garden Centre in Wychbold is the perfect place for festive fun in the run up to Christmas. Little ones can also visit Santa in his Grotto, and luckily for Midlands residents, a trip to the North Pole won’t be necessary as the big man in the red suit has set up a temporary home at Webbs Garden Centre in Wychbold, Worcestershire".

In the morning we have exchanged anniversary gifts and off we went to the Webbs Garden Centre, which is just 20-25 minutes away.
I was very excited to try ice skating as I have never done this before, thankfully other mums and dads didn't mind me "sliding" on my skates whilst holding onto the border.
Things to remember: the skating session lasts 45 minutes, skate hire is included in the price. The price vary depending on a day and time, see here. Child skating support/skate aid-banana and penguin can be hired as well as far as I remember it's £5 each.

I was expecting to fall few times but once I started skating around it's perimeter I could see an improvement. My personal recommendation would be to use banana skating aid with your little one as a support. It really helps you to feel more comfortable on ice.

We were skating a little bit less than others as I could see L had enough, but to prolong our ice experience L 'played' with penguin aids a little bit and enjoyed having all these space to herself in changing/toilet section.

Next we went to Webbs Christmas section, where L enjoyed messing around under dancing LED lights. It was the most popular section for toddlers as it reminded them of something you would see at sensory classes. We loved Christmas fireplace, sleigh and different Christmas trees from traditional to fiber optic ones.
The additional mention to beautiful winter and wild forest ornaments, they absolutely blew us away! I loved baby seals, penguins, rabbits, ducks (my husband's favourite), Bambi! Before leaving Webbs we returned to the section as I wanted to buy baby seal but I as I couldn't decide which one I like (yes, they differ by size and posture) we left empty- handed but I really regret not buying anything!

Grotto

Once finished with window shopping we went to meet Santa, please find booking information and prices here. The walk to the Grotto filled with different freestanding and moving winter creatures and hard working elves was something special! L liked moving husky/wolf and of course mini-sleigh with 2 dog teddies!
Once we were at the doors to Santa's Grotto we were met by a friendly elf girl who showed us the way to Santa and was very friendly and helpful. L didn't want to sit on Santa's lap but didn't mind him once I perched on the armchair. We had a lovely conversation about Santa's reindeers, our Christmas gift wish list, about Christmas Eve treats for Santa and Rudolph and of course have taken few pictures.
Like last year elf had jingle bells attached to her sleeves which helped to bring L's attention to the camera. Once we said our goodbyes we walked into a warehouse room filled with gifts. It was so tough to pick one present. L grabbed sorting shapes toy first, then a clown toy, then a ball and in the end we opted for toy cars, yes not only boys play with them!
And that's not all, at the till we were greeted by a different elf girl who offered us to look at the pictures which we could have in a globe, bauble and a block filled with snow and snowflakes! Webbs are spoiling their visitor with choice this year!
Before leaving Webbs we popped in to the cafe to enjoy hot chocolate drinks and delicious muffins whilst L was enjoying the look of massive bauble on the ceiling and colourful Christmas trees and wreaths.

It was a truly magical experience which only gets better and better each year!

Christmas gift guide: Christmas elf door by Made With Love By Stacie

I have seen different cute fairy doors and fairy gardens but have never seen elf doors before. Made With Love By Stacie makes unique large Christmas elf doors if you want to treat your little one or maybe an old friend who believes.

Stacie the owner of the shop always had an arts & crafts addiction and as she wanted to work around her kids Made With Love By Stacie was born.
This Christmas elf door is approximately 30cm high (£12), made from mdf and hand decorated by Stacie with lots of love and attention. This beautiful elf door is finished with a cute gingerbread man, wreath with crystals and Christmas candy cane. It can be placed on the skirting board or on fire place as a Christmas decoration and can add something truly magical to your festive celebrations.
I have heard about stories that elves use this door to visit little one and to report back to Santa if they were nice or naughty. L is a little bit early to understand that but I'm sure it can be a great tradition and a part of Christmassy story telling.

If you are not a big lover of fairy or elf doors these are just few other products you can purchase from Stacie's shop:
If you see something you like please hurry up as it is not long till Stacie's books are closed.

On the way to my goal with SlimFast

For the past few months  I have tried different fasting products which unfortunately didn't work for me.  I was struggling to feel motivated and to feel full with 500 calories a day. My constant hunger didn't help either and instead of following my goal to keep fit for 30th birthday I kept eating more and more.
Couple of weeks ago 3 of us went for a little stroll to a local football ground where my husband wanted to take some pictures. When we looked through the pictures I saw myself from behind which shocked me, I had laughter and tears at the same time, it was awful to realise that I look even fatter than I was!
And even that didn't stop me from eating more! I have moved my goal to the summer 2016 as it seems to be more realistic, I cleared the treadmill from toys and clothes but something was stopping me. I felt comfortable with myself, but I knew that the moment I see my friends or go out I will hate myself for looking so big.
 you look
My husband says it is vein to look good for others, but I think it's the only way for me to stay motivated.

This week I pulled myself together and started walking and running on a treadmill for 20-25 minutes and just in time I have received SlimFast products to try!
I have received 7 day starter kit which includes milkshakes, bars, protein meal bars, snacks to last 7 days as well as the weekly plan.
To keep track of my journey here is my weight: 95.7 kg (awful I know).

What I like the most is that I can have 1200-1400 calories a day, which is great as it allows me to have my favourite meals for dinner. SlimFast recommends that you have up to three snacks a day to help keep you feeling satisfied between meals. SlimFast method seems more realistic to me and I really hope that it can give me that kick I needed!

Pumpkin themed messy play

After picking our own pumpkin we had few small ones left , as I didn't want them to go to waste and wanted L to explore something new I started searching the Pinterest for messy play ideas or things to do with pumpkin.
I have found mess free play with pumpkin seeds idea which I was eager to try.
I have prepared a cloth mat, a pumpkin, a carving knife, a pan and a carving scoop and tissues.
I used a carving knife to cut the top for an easy access inside the pumpkin. I let L play with slimy seeds, to scoop them out or put them in a pan.
As L likes to play with mud when in the garden principal of scooping pumpkin seeds was familiar to her. We spent possibly good 20 minutes playing until L decided that she wants to cover me in seeds.
Later in the day once eaten and cleaned I decided to try Pinterest messy free pumpkin baby play. I have found a zip lock bag, I put slimy seeds in and locked the bag. The idea is that it keep babies clean and allows to play with seeds, feel different textures and explore something new. L didn't find this idea exciting and maybe stepped on the bag couple of times and grabbed it few times and then it ended up in the pile of toys. Which made me think that maybe not everything we see on Pinterest works?! Would you agree?

Christmas gift guide: Precious Parcels mice plaque

For me Christmas and New Year are like birthday- a very special day when you want to decorate the house, prepare delicious meal, looking forward to opening present and invite your close family and friends so celebrate that special day.

If you don't know what to buy for your loved ones or want to decorate you home but stuck with ideas Precious Parcels is the right place to visit.

" Precious Parcels was set up in October 2008 by Natalie Hickey.
Natalie began making plaques purely as a hobby. She'd always enjoyed being creative and as she was at home looking after her newborn son, she thought it would be an ideal time to get creative.
A few friends suggested she should list her work on eBay to see if anyone liked it, and when the first few items sold she continued to make more... and more....
As a result of this unexpected demand she set about designing the website and Precious Parcels was born...".

Natalie has kindly offered us to review personalised Christmas mice plaque worth £7.50.
The plaque arrived within few days of ordering it, smelling of fresh paint.
I have opted for a general customised wording "Merry Christmas to all" as I was planning to hang it in our hallway.
You can personalise the plaque with up to 4 words maximum which should be enough for a small plaque, measuring 17.5cm x 7.5cm.
This cute little plaque is manufactured from mdf, Natalie applies a base coat in Primer and few coats of white paint before applying the mice design and your preferred personalisation.
Each mice plaque is supplied/ finished with a natural twine attached to it and red qingham ribbon.

It looks super cute and can be a great Christmas gift or an ideal decoration if you want to spruce up your home!

Please note, Precious Parcels are closing their books on 5th December in time for Christmas deliveries.

Review: Goodness Gracious baby food

L have tried different well - known baby food products, some she food combinations she likes and some she hates. For instance L likes carrot, apple and parsnip pouches from 2 different brands because they are more sweeter and bearable to eat, where as 1 particular brand adds more carrots or carrot flavour is overpowering and L would never eat it.

When we came across Goodness Gracious baby food pouches I was intrigued to see if L will like or dislike them.
"Goodness Gracious Foods serves up an innovative line of organic purees in Switzerland, Europe and all over the world, using recipes that began life in the kitchen of founder Katherine Gubbins.

Goodness Gracious’ food is researched using nutritionists and the ancient healing power of Ayurveda – the Indian traditional health system dating back 5000 years: balancing the mind, body and soul. Whatever you put in your body has an effect. For our babies and children, naturally, we want to give them the best food possible so that they can grow and thrive and live their childhood in the most carefree way".

Pouches from 4 months old:

Apple Puree (£1.10 in Ocado)
I have tried to do apple puree myself but it never tasted right. I don't tend to give L single fruit or veg pouches but if she is not eating anything offered I' willing to try something else. I have offered apple puree pouch as a small snack after L's lunch and I can certainly say that L liked it. I have also tried it myself and it tastes slightly different than your usual apple pure pouch more realistic to what it would taste if I made it.

Pear Puree
(£1.10 in Ocado)
Pear puree tasted strong but not too bad, same as apple puree pouches it tasted like a home-made puree.

Apple, Apricot & Cinnamon Puree
(£1.28 in Ocado)
When I saw the combination of flavours I thought that it is different but wasn't really sure if L would like that, but she did and finished it all! I have tied it myself as well- overpowering apricot with a small cinnamon hint.

Banana, Plum & Quinoa Puree (£1.28 in Ocado)
L has never tried quinoa before and I was a little bit worried that she wouldn't take it. Overpowering sweet babana flavour with quinoa texture. The pouch is a little bit too sweet for me, but L didn't mind it.

Carrot, Broccoli, Quinoa & Pea Puree (£1.28 in Ocado)
This is L's least favourite, she is not a big fan of carrots, peas and broccoli in general hence I didn't expect miracles. As I have tasted the pouch myself I couldn't taste carrot or peas as broccoli was overpowering but L just didn't like it regardless.

Pouches from 8 months old and older:

Chicken, Sweet Potato & Spinach Puree with Mint & Lemon Juice (£1.51)

L wasn't keen on this pouch either. She rarely accepts a chicken flavour pouch but will eat a chicken and veg jar, very specific I know.
The moment I offered the pouch L didn't like it straight away and after few attempts didn't accept it. I of course have tried it myself, I could taste chicken and mint, the texture was a little bit "heavy" for me. I could taste spinach and if L was happy to eat it I think I would put it in a blender one more time.

Organic Mango, Coconut Milk & Brown Rice Puree (£1.28 in Ocado)

L has never tried coconut milk or brown rice and knowing how fussy she is with food I didn't think that she would try the pouch, but she did! When I have tried it myself I couldn't feel any rice, but it certainly had an overpowering mango taste to it.

Pros: Seeing how L eats this pouches I would like to try new flavours.Cons: the pouches don't really have any information in English language apart from attached "bookmark". At first I thought that the bookmark is merely a decoration and didn't look at it properly. I tried to read the words in French to see if they make sense to me, as I didn't want to give L something without checking the ingredients. I think it would be ideal if the label in English language would be glued to the actual pouch.

You can find Goodness Gracious pouches on sale
in the UK via Ocado, Wholefoods and Planet Organic as well as quite a few smaller Organic and healthfood shops.
