Arts & Crafts: upcycling wooden crate into toy box

Over a year ago I have started my first upcycling project, but as L need my attention more  and I prefer to work in the garden where I have lots of space it took be a while to finish the project.

Originally my husband came up with an idea that we could do something with a massive wooden crate we had and as we were living in a small house at that time with no storage space whatsoever the idea of a toy box/storage box was born.
The lid wasn't attached to the body of the box and had foam blocks glued to the bottom, which we removed. Then we smoothed the surface inside and out with sand paper to remove splinters and fitted 2 large hinges between the lid and the box.
Prior to painting I have put few layers of the newspaper to protect garden tiles and started spraying Rust-Oleum surface primer.

Tip1: Before using the primer please shake the can for about 1 minute until you hear balls rattling inside.

Tip2: To protect yourself from fumes please cover your nose and mouth area.
I needed 2 cans of primer to cover the large areas of the crate and left it to dry for couple of minutes.

Tip3: Hold the primer upright and move back and forth to cover the area.

Next, I prepared 2 colours (white and pink) of Rust-Oleum painters touch multi-purpose gloss paints (250ml). I have opted for brush paint as I thought it would be easier to use and the colour would look more even.
I have started with applying white paint first, which surprisingly didn't have any smell and left it to dry for 24 hours.
Few days later I started painting the box with the pink Rust-Oleum painters touch multi-purpose gloss paint and when finished left it to dry for a day.

It took me a while to finish the toy box but I'm very happy with the result, what do you think?

Disclaimer: I was provided with Rust-Oleum for the purpose of these updates. All opinions are honest and my own.
