Peanut Hottie- peanut butter flavoured hot drink review

I can't call myself a big fan of peanuts, but we always have peanut butter and peanut butter chocolates in our cupboard (thanks to my mum). When a Peanut Hottie representative contacted me I knew nothing about the drink itself but was very eager to try it.

Peanut Hottie is:
  • Peanut butter flavour instant hot beverage
  • Made with real peanuts
  • Caffeine free
  • Suitable for vegetarians
  • No artificial additives
  • No artificial colours
  • Under 100 calories per cup
  • Delicious
  • Price per tub (225g) £2.99

When I have opened the tub for the first time I couldn't resist but to sniff the powder, which had a peanutty aroma.

My husband made the first mug and instead of putting recommended 4-5 teaspoons he put 2-3 teaspoons, it didn't look thick, but tasted very peanutty, sweet (but not too sweet).
The second time round I put as recommended amount which made it too sweet and maybe slightly thicker, but I had to add more hot water as it just didn't taste right for me. I do understand that everyone is different but I would prefer to use 2-3 teaspoons every time as it's tastes nicer and to preserve more of Peanut Hottie drink as if you were to use the recommended amount it will be enough only for 4-5 mugs.

If you would like to try Peanut Hottie, it is available in Sainsbury’s and Waitrose currently - the store finder tool on the website will let you find your local to save a wasted trip.
When I was browsing Peanut Hottie website I also came across recipes created by fans of this drink, I think it's a great idea but can be costly.
Even though I never heard of this drink before my husband and I started noticing that it is getting popular amongst our friends and work colleagues, we spotted few people who had Peanut Hottie tubs in their kitchen and for those who never tried this drink we offered to sample it.

It is a great alternative to a hot chocolate, but would be more like a treat drink in our family due to it's price.

Recommendation: my suggestion is purely for inventors of this drink- to make this drink last longer maybe to use a thickening agent so that we can use 1 teaspoon instead of 4.

Disclamer: I was provided with Peanut Hottie tub for the purpose of this review. All views and opinions are honest and my own.

  9. We had a couple of sachets of this in our goodie bags at the UK Blog Awards - whilst I love peanut butter, I thought the drink was really sickly (at least I thought so, hubs said it wasn't too bad) I'll stick to my peanut butter on toast with strawberry jam like it's supposed to be consumed!!!

  24. This was shown in my slimming world group and I loved it when I tried it. It is quite expensive though when you have to use so much for each serving.

  30. I love this drink, it's become a firm favourite in my house. One tip is to use half chocolate powder and half Peanut Hottie to make a peanutty hot chocolate :)
