Hardcover book "My Underpants RULE!" giveaway

This Friday I have an exciting giveaway for a book called "My Underpants RULE!" (hardback £12.99, softback book £9.99 and suitable for ages 3 to 8+) which will be launched in the UK shortly. This is something very close to my heart, I have read so many articles and stories about innocent babies and kids suffering from adults who don't know what boundaries are.

"Once upon a time there was a fearless policewoman called Kate, who saw some horrible things when she was on duty. They involved children being hurt and abused in terrible ways, and Kate would help catch the people who did this.

Kate met a handsome prince and soon had children of her own. She was very happy and did a great job of looking after them because she knew who the bad people were, and how to keep her children safe. In fact, she was so good that many people would come to her for advice. But then some things happened that made her realise she still didn’t know it all.

The first involved the dad of a player in a sports team Kate’s young son was in. Kate would say, “He’s a really great guy and fantastic with the kids”. Unfortunately, she found out that despite her experience, she could not really tell who the bad people are and they are everywhere (fortunately her son was safe).

Then shortly afterwards, an incident occurred in Kate’s neighbourhood involving a 6 year-old girl and a friend she had brought home from school. The friend had played in ways she shouldn’t. It turned out bad things had been happening in the friend’s home, so she thought her behaviour was normal. Kate realised there are lots of different degrees of things to protect her children against, and that danger lurks where you least expect it.

Kate decided the best way to help her children was for them to be able to help themselves. So she went on a quest to find materials she could use to teach them. The problem was, she didn’t want to scare her children and wanted to make their learning fun. She also didn’t want the teaching aids to be too explicit. She searched and searched, but nothing quite hit the mark.

Now, Kate knew that Prince Rod was good at structuring learning and writing ridiculous rhyme, while she was good at whimsical drawing. So they started working together to create something that would help all the children of the land. They combined their experience, added a touch of irreverence, an abiding sense of purpose, and mixed it all with love.

And that’s how our Underpants came to RULE!"

I have one hardback book to give away to one lucky family. All you have to do is fill out the Rafflecopter form below (the competition ends on 10 May 12am):

Review: The Little Stork & My Given Name personalised book

I'm a big fan of personalised books as not only your child can relate to characters by seeing his/hers name in a book but it is also a great keepsake. So when we have received The Little Stork & My Given Name personalised book I was very excited to see L's reaction.

"My given name was created with the aim of providing a truly personalised children’s book that offers something more than just great personalisation. We are aiming to create not only the best personalised book, but one that can have a positive effect on children’s lives".

You can personalised the book with the name, ethnicity and gender by picking the correct picture and typing your child's first name and surname. You can purchase the book in hard cover for £19.95 or soft cover for £17.95.
Stork Bindee is the main character, who needs to deliver the baby and her certificate home. As he believes that he can't fly (other storks told him) he had to walk to the mountain to pick up the baby. On his journey he meets different animals who share their positive stories with Bindee. The story and messages vary as each story relates to the baby's name. When he finally meets the Wizard he realizes that all these stories had a meaning and discovers that he can fly.

"The animals and the positive messages will form the letters that create the child’s given name. So the child, your child in the story, is named after these special gifts and positive characteristics. What a wonderful name! What a lot of wonderful messages that are now associated forever with the letters of their given name".

L and I were engrossed into My Given Name book as I thought that the plot, different characters on each page and colourful illustrations make this book perfect for a little one!

Kids Don't Come With a Manual book giveaway #6

Whilst being pregnant I had few parenting books which I scanned through when I had time. I noted few things which I thought are important to know but didn't pay much attention to the rest as I believe that my natural instinct will tell me what I should do and what is best for my baby.

9 months later my main concern is L's sleeping and I'm constantly on a search for a better method, someone's advice, helpful book to read. Recently I came across Kids Don't Come With a Manual book by Carole and Nadim Saad, which I thought could be the one.

Unfortunately the book is addressed to parents with older kids who have tantrums, sibling rivalry etc. but nonetheless it is very interesting to know how to tackle these challenges at some point as I'm sure due to our different parenting styles L will try to "trick" one or the other.

Just like Carole did, I'm sure I will give in to my daughter's "wants", and my husband just like Nadim was, believes that you should be strict with a child, that a child should recognise authority in a parent. I know that only cooperation and team work can lead to a happier life and happier, well-behaved child.

Parenting is an important job, yet parents receive little to no training. Since most of our experience is based on our own upbringing, we can feel uncertain as to whether we are doing the right” thing. To complicate things further, our partner is likely to have a different parenting style to ours. Drawing on their experience in early childhood education, as parent coaches, and as parents, Carole and Nadim have helped thousands of parents with their programme of practical ‘tools’ designed to empower parents
to:

- Deal with everyday parenting challenges without confrontation or anger.
- Help children to become happy, fulfilled and self-reliant adults.
- Maintain a strong and loving connection with children throughout their lives.
- Agree on a balanced and more enjoyable approach to parenting.

It is a little bit to early for us to use the book but I will be certainly reading the book when I think the time is right.

If you are interested in purchasing the book (£11.42, RRP £12.99) please visit Amazon.

Alternatively, I am very delighted to offer one of my readers the opportunity to win the book, all you have to do is fill out the Rafflecopter form below which will be active as of tomorrow (4 April and ends on 17 April 12am):
