Chipex touch up kit for cars and screenwash review and giveaway

Recently my husband discovered some small scuffs/scratches to his car and was pondering what repair options were available.

Chipex offered a repair system  (£29.95) and I jumped at the chance to test it out (especially as my husband and I are dubious about repair paints/products).

"Chipex® was launched in 2009 so as to provide a fast, very effective and safe solution for the home user to repair paint damage to vehicles to a high standard, without the time and expense of going to a body shop".

The set is excellently presented in a tube with all the bits needed to complete a 'touch up' on any bumps and scuffs on your vehicle.

                     
So what is inside: well you get everything from gloves and sponges to paint and polish (obviously!).
                    
To begin with you need to clean the area and use the blending solution or white spitir with a cleaning cloth, to prepare the area for painting and to wipe away any previous paintwork.
                          
                          
You then carefully paint the scuff/scratch using the special paintbrush (several provided). Chipex provide you with the correct paint colour (small pot but sufficient) which you can simply order on the website bu typing your car registration number.

Once the paint has dried (varies depending on how much paint is used), you then use the blending solution once more and this prepares the area for a final polish and cleans any excess paint.

                            
The polish solution is in a slightly larger pot which needs to be used with microfibre cloth (provided), which is used to merge the polish in with the scuff/scratch.
                   
As there are quite a few scuffs/scratches I did paint and polish numerous areas around the car, some areas ended up looking better than others. But all in all much better than they were prior to using Chipex. To conclude, Chipex go above and beyond with the accessories they provide and ensure all elements are thought of.

Chipex instructions ensure a smooth transition between each step, and if followed correctly leave you with a nicely painted/repaired area (which used to be a scratch/scuff!).

So if your thinking about what to do with a scratch/scuff on your car, think Chipex!

As a part of this feature post I have also received Chipex Aquaphobic screenwash (£13.95).
                                    
As you may be aware, Chipex are more renowned for the chip repair system, but the screenwash they offer is as good as the repair system.
                  
Here are some facts: 

• The screenwash can act as an anti-freeze up to -2 degrees freezing point 
• It comes in a 1L bottle 
• Can be used for up to 7 refills (with a mixture of water) 
• Improves rain vision & repels rain from the screen 
• Streak free cleaning

Now I can tell you for a fact that my husband and I hate going out to the car on freezing cold morning to de-ice. Also our windscreen does get rather dirty from driving behind other vehicles (lorries), so the fact that Chipex provide a rain/water repellent screenwash is an excellent plus!

Put it this way any solution or screenwash that can help with our car is more than welcome in our household!

We did add the solution directly into the screenwash compartment, due to the fact that water had already been poured into our car, so the screenwash was poured in to mix with the water (already present).

However, if your screenwash reservoir is empty then you simply clean your windscreen (prepping) and then add 1/4 (250ml) for a 5ltr reservoir. Future use/top up of the screenwash can then be limited to 125ml each time, which allows for up to approx 7 refills.

An must have in your car for our wonderful British weather (especially in the winter)!

After the tragic death of his friend seven years prior, now FBI agent Johnny Utah (Luke Bracey) and other extreme sports athletes uncover a pattern of plots targeting heists at different locations around the world (from India to Venezuela).

Mad Max: Fury Road
The next installment of the Mad Max franchise, sees Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy) join forces with Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron), to flee from leader Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne) in this petrol fueled action film.

Bayard children's magazines review and competition

Few months ago just before L started nursery I have bought her a little treat- children's magazine as a  way of praising her for being a good girl during settling in sessions. The more magazines we bought the more interest L showed in cartoon characters she sees, stickers, colouring activities and of course a toy attached to the magazine, so it became a bit of a tradition. 

A week ago or so we were introduced to a different type of magazines for children which cover most ages and interests called Bayard magazines.

As this is the most age appropriate magazine for L I was really surprised by the paper quality of the magazine, all pages including covers are much thicker than magazines you can buy in supermarket. It seems more suitable for educating your kids in entertaining manner without spoiling the fun with adverts of different services or products, what I do miss though is a little treat- a plastic toy. Little L really enjoyed looking through the pages and listening to her daddy read the magazine.

Little girls and boys aged 6-9 will be very surprised to see a cute mini magazine called "Adventure Box", which included illustrated stories of different genres, puzzles and games, comic stories and educational articles about nature. 
Even though these magazines might be "old" for L but I found that she was as interested to look through the pages as with other 2 different Bayard magazines.

With "Discovery Box" aimed at kids ages 9-12 your little one will find science and history articles as well as comic stories and some arts and craft activities and much more. 

Each magazine is valued at £5.50 which maybe a little but pricey for some parents, but you can also subscribe to the magazines online or via the form included in the paper copy. Christmas gift guide: Bathing Bunnies hooded towel review and giveaway

When L was newborn my mum brought large offcut of towelling fabric for me to cut into large strips. Since then I have been using this fabric to catch L's sick instead of musling cloths, used to put towelling strips on a sofa when L was playing next to me (hygiene reasons) and of course used to dry L after bath.

From just a simple touch I could tell that Bathing Bunnies hooded towel will absorb water well (made of 100% cotton velour terry towelling material) we just needed to wait till L's next bath time session to test this in practice. 

But firstly I wanted to see L's reaction when we both unwrap the "present" (that's how I call every new item L gets). L was absolutely delighted with the bunny character, perfect features with big floppy ears, big eyes, freckles and even a bow, what more can a little girl wish for..to try it on of course!

L absolutely loved the hood, which she called "a hat" and after every wash she would insist on putting her bunny hat on and would wrap herself in the towel as the size of it allows to do so. I am not quite sure about the exact measurement but the hood covers the head very well, both sides of the towel are wings alike and give enough "coverage" for the little grown body to feel wrapped up warm.

Christmas gift guide- VQ Mini Retro DAB radio and giveaway

When I was little I remember my mum getting ready to work whilst listening to DAB radio, I have followed this tradition until moved to the UK as physically couldn't take everything with me. I may not be a night club goer or a follower of recent charts but I do love to listen to music, new and old dance hits are my main choices.

When VQ offered to review one of the models I didn't know that it will be a love from the first sight! Mini Retro DAB Radio  (£59.99) looks sleek in deep purple colour (originally wrapped in a dust bag), incredibly easy to use and makes a great centrepiece in any room.

When you first power up the radio it starts auto scan for radio stations available, for those who are too excited to wait you can also carry out the search manually by accessing the "menu".
Once you have found your favourite radio stations you can save them (up to 30 presets ) by pressing and holding "star" button and choosing the right present. To play saved stations you need to press "star" button once and then "arrow" buttons indicating left or right depending where in the list your favourite station is.

What's very interesting as well the radio sets up date and time automatically too, no need to faff about with buttons, it's all done for you! The signal and quality was very consistent in almost every room apart from kitchen when I had to use aerial attached to the Mini Retro.

Now to my favourite feature- bluetooth, I had a little bit of the "blonde moment" when tried to pair up the devices for the first time, but then eventually I remembered that I need not only to choose "bluetooth mode" via "mode" button on Retro Mini but to select the device I want to pair on my phone too. When this was done it was a matter of seconds until my new funky radio was playing my favourite tunes. You can be in any room in your house with your phone or other smart device and change the music or volume on Mini Retro.

HappyCalc space themed maths puzzle giveaway

Since L was about 18 months I started to encourage her to learn numbers in a fun way, I would hold her with one arm and with other prepare her breakfast whilst counting how many spoons of porridge I put in her bowl.
