Review: Zoggs girl baby wrap

I always wanted to take L swimming but when the time and the weather is right for us. As I have been in our local swimming pool before I know that the water is quite cold there and for me it was very important that L stays warm in the water.

Thankfully Allens of Kingsbury swimwear specialist were kind enough to offer L Zoggs girl baby wrap to review.

Allen's of Kingsbury is a family run business that has been run by the Allen family and their relations for over 35 years. There are three separate companies who share the Allens of Kingsbury name, all of which are completely independent businesses, run by separate members of the Allen family – a fishing tackle business, a printing business and of course ourselves, who specialise in supplying swimwear, from accessories to top-of-the-range racing competition suits.

I have opted for a pink with blue rim neoprene baby wrap for 6-12 months (£18.50) which had plenty room to grow.

Baby wrap is very nice, light and soft to touch and it didn't look like L was restricted in moved when was wearing it and doesn't leave any irritation on a skin.
The wrap has velcro fastening in the middle, at the bottom and at the top which makes it very easy to put on no matter how small or big your baby is (adjustable fit).
When L tried in on for the first time I was very surprised that her body feels so warm as I wasn't sure that it will work, but it does keep her warm.

Putting baby wrap on: as it opens up fully I have tried putting it on L when she was lying (lay the baby, put the flap through the legs, wrap each core torso side which will secure the bottom and middle part and put the shoulder straps over) and sitting. I found that it is a little bit easier to adjust the velcro straps when L was sitting as you can see how comfortable she is and if it's tight anywhere.

The very first time we took L to the swimming pool was at the Bluestone Wales, where water warm but as I like to be on a safe side I kept the neoprene baby wrap on her but I know some mums prefer to take it off if the water is warm. L was wearing a swim nappy underneath which gives her a full protection from any accidents in the water. We have spent about 40-45 minute in the water and L seemed calm and not cold at all.

It is recommended not to wash the baby wrap in a washing machine and not to tumble dry, just to rinse in cold water, dry in a shade.

Overall, I'm quite happy with the neoprene baby wrap and will be using it every time L goes swimming.

My fitness routine during pregnancy

I can't call myself a healthy eater if fit, but I certainly try to do my best.
I have tried numerous diets, tablets, milk shakes, some of them helped me to shift weight the others were a waste of my time, health and money. My main motivations always were men (unfortunately) or clothes.

I always accepted myself the way I am up until I met someone or went shopping with girls and managed to fit in 1 outfit out of 8 I had in my changing room (maybe that's why I hate shopping).
I used to go to gyms, I even had few different personal fitness instructors, one was paying attention or chatting to others more than me and second one was too handsome (but I managed to start concentrating on my exercise routine than him) and maybe clueless, as I blame him for putting on muscle weight and not loosing weight.

Few years ago we bought a treadmill, which I think to date is the best fitness investment we have made. We placed it under the stairs so that we can always remind ourselves what we need to do some exercising. I have started using it well before being pregnant and continue using it at the moment- instead of running I am now walking on a treadmill every day for at least 20-25 minutes. I'm not on a diet, but after my sickly 1st trimester loosing few pounds motivated me to stay fit throughout pregnancy and to try and gain only baby weight.
I thought that treadmill every day is not enough, every weekend we drive to the park to have a long walk there and once a week we go swimming.

I don't remember if I ever was motivated that much, the fact that I want to be healthy& fit for myself and baby is the best motivation I could think of.
Plus I guess the fact that I didn't have any cravings helped as well :-)

I thoroughly enjoy my new way of life (even though I know it will change when little L comes to the world) and would recommend it to any pregnant lady or her partner.

If you don't have a fitness companion you can try to find one via Friend Finder on C& G Baby Club website.

Pregnancy update 20 weeks

Visible changes in my body: I think I have more obvious bump; one day I think I can see bump, the other day I can't see it)

Other changes: I can't fall asleep straight away like I did before, it feels like it takes me ages; more uncomfortable to lie on my side; have more ligament pains and back pains (by more I mean when I stand up or when walk on a treadmill, or sit awkwardly); and the most important I feel my baby, for the past few weeks I didn't know if it's a baby or gas, but now I know it's my little L)

How do I feel: headaches are gone (touch wood); feeling less sick in the evenings; also still have increased sense of smell, but its not so bad any more comparing to what it was before; feel tired quicker.

Cravings: still none

Fitness: before I was pregnant I tried to do a bit of running on a treadmill at home, at the beginning of pregnancy I started walking instead of running and still try to do walking everyday for 20-25 minutes, plus we started going to a swimming pool once a week.

Baby: At 20 weeks baby is about 25cm long, and weighs about 340g. Baby is becoming very active inside a womb, s\he can step, hold him\herself erect and even grab and squeeze the umbilical cord. From around now there will be slight differences in baby’s activity between morning and night with the busiest being around midnight.

Gender: We had our 20 weeks scan on Monday, baby is perfectly fine! And we are having a girl!!
It was a huge shock for us, if you read my blog from the very beginning you know that we wanted and tried to follow old wives tales and Shettles method to conceive a boy, after doing everything the right way we were 99% sure it's a boy. How naïve we were and how shocking it was to know it's a girl, I don't even know what to do with a girl!) I know that we should of considered both options, but we were totally obsessed with an idea of having a boy! I had a good cry, spoke with my mum and it helped, I am ready to welcome and to enjoy having our little girl! Yesterday I felt so sorry for her that we were upset, I love this baby already and don't want her to feel that mummy and daddy are not happy or didn't want her, it's not true, we wanted this baby, we planned it, and I know we will adjust to an idea of us being team pink!
